The Anti-Niche Blog …because I said so.

Pregnancy: License to go bonkers.

May 31

I’m 8 months on the way and by now, I have managed to run everyone in the household crazy because of my mood swings and outbursts that seem to just unleash out of nowhere.

Okay, from me.

Well, I have often been told that I’ve always been a domineering person, a bossy type of person. As much as I would not want to admit it but yeah, I myself can sense it. While I can be the silent, forever-glued-to-my-pc-type of person, I can be other people’s nightmare when I get mad over something because when I’m mad I can’t stop talking nagging.

And this temperament heightens when I am pregnant. And I think that it’s the worst with my current pregnancy.

I pick on our househelp when they can’t do anything right. Just this evening, I fret over the chorizo that was not cooked very well, with the outside overly done and the inside meat malasado. I didn’t finish my dinner.

My kids are a lively bunch and you can hear them screaming, running, jumping all around the house. Nowadays, I find myself unable to bear such chaos and would just lock myself inside our little home-office and ignore them.

Lastly, I pick on my husband. When he leaves the house to buy something from the drugstore I ask him what time he would be back, or that he should be back soon. I also often complain that my tummy seems to be very heavy which, most of the time, is just an excuse not to go to the grocery or not to do a light errand.

But there was really this one time when I thought that I think I’ve gone overboard.

At the end of the day, it is always mine and my husband’s cost-saving practice to list down in a little notebook what we have spent on for the day, and review our expenditures. Yesterday, I was going through the list and my eyes almost popped out when I saw an entry for “Apple” for a certain amount. It was a surprise because there was no way we could spend such amount for “Apple”. Without giving it much thought I immediatelyu confronted and nagged my hubby why he spent so much amount for”Apple”, and that I didn’t even see one in the fridge, nor got to eat one. I unleashed whatever I could think of that time.

And then when the verbal storm subsided, I asked him to give me an honest and clear explanation.

He rolled his eyes, looked at me and said” Hoy mommy, yan ang suweldo ni Apple.”

It turned out it was an entry for the monthly salary of one of our househelps named Apple.

I am so lucky to have my husband. =)

Oh my Joomla!

May 16

I had the rare pleasure of going site hopping yesterday and spent hours scouring through WordPress and Joomla template sites. And boy, I felt like I just came from the Neanderthal times when I saw those amazing sleek new designs available for free and for a fee.

For WordPress, I got stuck with TOPWPTHEMES and Smashing Magazines 100 Excellent Free WordPress Themes. I didn’t even know that Adii’s Polaroid is available for free, this one I gotta have.

I proceeded to Joomla and it got me even more absorbed. There are a lot of new free templates out there, but one that is available for free which I think would look great in my business website works only with the new Joomla 1.5, and my site is still in 1.0 version. I am so stuck. I was tempted to plunk some Paypal dollars to buy either a Club Templates membership over at Rockettheme or YouJoomla’s club templates, or just buy a single template at SmarterTemplates.

But I am actually getting ahead, as I would have to decide first if I would stick it out with Joomla 1.0, or take the plunge and upgrade to Joomla 1.5 (which scares the hell out of me).

Gotta run that question through again some time this weekend.

In the meantime, I’m gonna enjoy this blog’s dress up party. =)

Up The PR Ladder!

May 13

When I opened my browser to this blog, I nearly fell off my seat (echos…exagg).  My PR status bar shows that this blog is on PR1.  Hooray!  After my fall from PR3 when my previous domain expired, it’s nice to see that green bar below the “1/10″.

Well, not that it matters to me that much.  I haven’t been updating this blog, nor have I made my plans of optimizing it become a reality due to work, work, work.

Soooo ironic that I update content, optimize websites and do whatever I would have to do to help my clients’ websites gain traffic.

Which reminds me…I should go back to work now.
