Turning Life into Scraps

February 2

No…no…it’s not what you’re thinking.

For the past 4 weeks, I have spent most of my free time slaving over my daughter’s scrapbook project for her preschool.  While I did attempt to make  a scrapbook 5 years ago, it fell victim to procrastination and eventually abandoned.

I was not really up to it, but the mother in me says that this is something that I have to do otherwise my daughter would end up having the worst scrapbook in her class.  My daughter did help out with cutting out shapes, gluing embellishments, and identifying names of her friends and classmates for the captions.

I ended up loving every minute of it, even making a promise to make my 3 other kids’ their own scrapbooks.

Here’s the finished product….taaddaaaa!!!!! =)

Live Via Hologram

November 6

When we moved in into our home more than a year ago we didn’t know that there is no cable service around the area. If we knew then we would have looked elsewhere.

So, it’s been quite a while that my kids didn’t have Cartoon Network on their TV. They had to make do with cartoons on DVDs. I and my husband on the other hand are too busy that we don’t have the time to watch TV. We get to see some specials via Youtube uploads. For Pacquiao fights and basketball games, my husband hauls off the family to my in-laws’ place.

But I do miss cable TV. I miss HBO, Crime and Suspense, National Geographic and CNN.

I missed CNN all the more when I read online news stories about CNN’s latest stunt : Live Reporting Via Hologram Technology.

WOW.

If the local cable company does not push through with its promise to expand their services in our area, I would be forced to look for another home elsewhere.

Seriously.

Going back to the topic, I really find this technology so cool and I am thinking if the Internet technology is going to follow suit.

Imagine talking to your love ones abroad via hologram instead of instant messengers plus IP cameras…now that’s great for OFWs and their families.. Or a client asking me for an interview via hologram.

Simply amazing.

I’m on a daydreaming mode today so just let me, okay? =)

Happyyyy!!!

August 22

You know, happy-would-like-to-invite-you-out-for-a-drink-and-let’s-party kind of thing…

I have a lot of things to be thankful for (and a few things not to be, but I don’t want gloom right now so…).

I have had interviews with 3 prospective additional clients this week and all three looked really promising.  The first one involves work with filmtrailers, another one involves fulltime research and writing, and the last one as a coordinator for a whole web development company.  I am really setting my hopes high on these projects because the tasks are really interesting and involves a lot of interaction (online and actual through phone) with others.

Another reason to be happy is that finally I won my first bid for a project at Elance.  Eversince I signed up for membership on that site some three years ago, I have never really actively pursued projects up for bid.  But after signing up for a monthly subscription that will allow me to submit proposals and post my bid, I won a $200 research project.  Not bad for a first timer, eh? =)  I’m just a little bit worried because deadline is on the 28th and the whole family is going full blast with our Kadayawan escapade this weekend.

Ahhh…all work and no play makes Maying a dull girl. Screw those deadlines.

I’ll deal with irate clients later.

Hi! I’m Maying, and this is my own personal blogsite where I write about random things about my family, my work, and all other subjects that matter to me.  I am a married woman and a mother to 4 wonderful kids.  I have been working at home for five years now as a Virtual Assistant, and enjoys having the best of both worlds – taking care of my very young children at home during the day while earning my keep assisting overseas companies and entrepreneurs in my own sweet time, mostly nights.

This blog is just an outlet of my opinion, feelings, reaction,  and what-have-you’s towards life.  So, if you like what I write, leave your comment or just lurk and read some more.  If you don’t,  you may still leave your comment but stop reading to save yourself from further agony. =)
